A depressing thread. This is something that every lawyer could do something to change. Ours is a self-regulating profession. There is no reason to just accept that state bars will not impose discipline for serious misconduct by prosecutors. Maybe if more civil lawyers spoke up...https://twitter.com/larabazelon/status/1415504446885220354 …

Over more than 2 years, I have filed 7 bar complaints against rogue prosecutors in California. These are ppl who have ruined lives. Not a single complaint of mine has resulted in discipline. The state bar is more likely to light itself on fire than launch an investigation.

(1/x) Her tweet is total bs. The State Bar of CA launches an investigation into every complaint it gets. So, as a starting pt, her tweet is wrong. What she means to say is they aren’t filing a complaint based on the investigation and she brings up Jamal Trulove as an example.

(2/x) Now I think @larabazelon and you should put your money where your mouth is and cite the violation of the professional rules of conduct in CA in that case or the Business and Professions Code that applies along with the accompanying case law instead of pushing this nonsense

(3/x) Now this is one of those situations where it’s a be careful what you wish for, bc for instance, I think every career prosecutor in SF at this pt would LOVE to get rid of immunity and open the door to really going after the myriad of issues and valid complaints against

@chesaboudin and @GeorgeGascon for things like conflict of interest, misrepresentation, violating marsy’s law, having a ct ruling dating @GeorgeGascon was breaking the law. And bc @larabazelon is just bsing, she would know that in fact, the state bar disciplined several

Prosecutors who worked for @GeorgeGascon @LADAOffice when he was in SF. But it’s easy just to tweet Bs and then have people who don’t live in CA push that nonsense

The problem with state bars failing to discipline prosecutors is hardly limited to the state of California. And your whole "you don't live here" retort is far less effective than you seem to think.

It is effective when you’re literally tweeting about the State Bar of Ca and the complaints Bazelon filed against CA prosecutors. Also, you guys confuse immunity, which is a civil issue with State Bar’s ability to discipline an Atty. The immunity doesn’t apply there.

Glad to see you deleted the "I don't see you tweeting about North Carolina" tweet. Because it was not only silly, but also wrong. And I understand how immunity works--no need to explain it to me, especially since I am tweeting about professional discipline, not civil liability
