Major rain on the playa stopped at 10am. Only a few light and scattered showers since then. Large amounts of the playa remain either covered in standing water or damp & impassable, but strong winds are helping to disperse & dry up the standing water. More info to come—stay safe!

GATE CURRENTLY CLOSED.
Extreme weather is expected to continue for several hours. We are not allowing access from CR34 onto the playa and advise all to hold in Reno or return there if enroute. If on Gate Road, please shelter in place until conditions allow operation to resume.
The Gate is open. All traffic has resumed. Gate staff is clearing Gate Road. Expect long delays.

Weather permitting, we're preparing to open the Gate tomorrow (Wednesday 8/23). 8/21, 8/22, and 8/32 Work Access Pass holders will be assigned entry windows. More info will arrive via email to WAP holders at 9am PT tomorrow. Before you hit the road, read your email carefully.
Drivers: SLOW DOWN! You travel through Tribal lands, school zones, and residential areas along Highway 447 through Nixon, Wadsworth, Empire and Gerlach all the way to #BRC. Please be considerate as you pass through and follow all posted speed limits.
As you've probably heard, Hurricane Hilary is reaching land near LA over the weekend and may make it as far as BRC as rain. We're watching closely—but please note that we might need to close Gate Road for parts of Monday 8/21 -Tuesday 8/22. Watch this feed—we'll keep you posted.

If you reach inside yourself and figure out that part of you that can be shared with others around you, chances are you will enjoy Burning Man. The only way to avoid having fun is to bring nothing of yourself to the event. There is zero wait at Gate.
Traffic is backed up into the city. Estimated wait is over 6 hours, and it's 99 degrees out. If you can, remain in camp, or find another place to wait until the lanes are clear.
There is essentially no wait to enter the city, aside from a search at Gate or a trip to Will Call. Weather is great today and we are all anxiously waiting for you to get here! Now is a great time to head to Burning Man.

Exodus operations are in the process of shutting down for the year, with no more data being collected. Await our final goodbye for the year, hopefully without traffic incident reports in the meanwhile.

Currently no wait time at the gate. All of the cars on the BRC side of the accident on CR 34 have made it into the city.
Anyone planning to purchase water at the Gerlach General Improvement District (GGID) today (Tues 8/22) should adjust plans. GGID will not be selling water until at least Weds 8/23. The BRC gate closure remains in effect. Do not drive to Gerlach today.
What should expect at the Gate now that the road is open?
Tons of staff will be at the gate. The winds are breezy and there are intermittent whiteouts that will have an impact. But every effort will be made to get you all into the city efficiently.

Burning Man 2022: Waking Dreams
We are excited to build Black Rock City with you in 2022! When we’re together again in the Black Rock Desert, it will have been three years.
If you need to fuel up, stop in Gerlach. The Empire gas station is out of gas.
The main part of the storm luckily avoided Black Rock City and winds have died down considerably. Still possible chances of showers throughout the night.
The city is experiencing light sprinkles at the moment. Will update regularly regarding showers.
⌚️The wait time is 5h30m. Though conditions are improving, please stay in camp if you can.
🦣The largest mammoth ever found was discovered in 1979 in the Black Rock Desert. This 17,000 year-old Imperial Mammoth was 50 yrs at death, 13,000 pounds, and 13 ft. tall at the shoulders.
Gate wait time is under 1 hour. Weather is still clear. Now is the time to come in.
The first 36 hours after opening can be 5 or more hours. Expect a long wait and pack water and snacks for the ride. Weather and Wind may temporarily close the Gate.
Gate is still experiencing rolling white outs.
Moisturize the shit out of your skin. The playa dust is very alkaline (9.97 to 10.21). Bring vinegar, lots, to counter balance the effects of exposure to playa dust.

What a wild ride, but guess what? We're down to a 0 min wait time and gates are clear.
It's very early in the morning so drive smart. Don't speed through small towns (or anywhere for that matter), watch for road hazards, animals, and pull over off the road if you need to sleep.
If you are arriving before the Gate opens officially Sunday, August 25, 2019, every person in your vehicle must have a valid ticket, art car/mutant vehicle and Early Work Access Pass. Be respectful of the communities you pass, secure load/Leave No Trace and follow traffic laws.
You can't rely on how you look to sustain you, what sustains us, what is fundamentally beautiful is compassion; for yourself and your those around you in the Dust. The wait is 0-1 minutes
Great news, the Empire gas station has been refueled and has started pumping gas, but we don't expect that to last. May the odds ever be in your favor.

6h wait to exit Black Rock City. We've now approached night time. Less visibility at night so please make sure you are not too tired to drive. If you are, right now may not be the time for you to leave and may not be the right time to drive home. Stop and chill. Save a life.
Pulsing accomplishes 2 objectives: makes Exodus more enjoyable for the masses since they are allowed to take a break & mingle with their neighbors during stopped periods. Instead of creeping along, you get to stop for an hour at a time and create ONE HOUR NEIGHBORHOODS!
Gate is open and is working diligently to clear the overflow of traffic do to whiteout conditions. Please be patient and expect delays.
Take all of your aluminum cans to Recycle Camp. There you can help them crush and bag the cans. Then the cans will be delivered to Gerlach where the School organizes to get the cans recycled and they get to keep the deposit money.
The time to exit Black Rock City has now climbed up to 7.5h. We highly suggest that if you have not left yet, wait till morning to leave. Either way at this point, you'll likely be in line until morning. Save yourself the trouble and just spend the night if at all possible.
As we have 70,000+ participants traveling to and from Black Rock City along a two-lane rural highway every year can be a significant part of the Burning Man experience good or bad! Please drive safely!!

Two-year hiatus and three years since we’ve cavorted in the dust together, returning to Black Rock City truly involves each and every one of us. While living through a global pandemic has challenged us collectively and individually, the fabric of our community is strong.

The current temp is 101+, when you see all those volunteers standing out the heat helping you out of the City, show them some love with cold non alcoholic beverage.

We can't wait to see all of you! Approximately 50,000 participants enter the event on Sunday and Monday. Traffic on Highway 447 is heaviest from 11 am-midnight. Best time to drive 447 is 2 am and 10 am on Sunday and Monday. If 447 is backed up, consider waiting in Reno/Sparks.
