Due to the rain forecast Sunday 8/20 into Monday 8/21, the gate will be closed until at least noon on Monday 8/21. If you were planning to travel to BRC with a Work Access Pass, delay your plans. It can take 12+ hours for the playa to dry, so please be patient. More info to come.

Major rain on the playa stopped at 10am. Only a few light and scattered showers since then. Large amounts of the playa remain either covered in standing water or damp & impassable, but strong winds are helping to disperse & dry up the standing water. More info to come—stay safe!

GATE CURRENTLY CLOSED. Extreme weather is expected to continue for several hours. We are not allowing access from CR34 onto the playa and advise all to hold in Reno or return there if enroute. If on Gate Road, please shelter in place until conditions allow operation to resume.

As you've probably heard, Hurricane Hilary is reaching land near LA over the weekend and may make it as far as BRC as rain. We're watching closely—but please note that we might need to close Gate Road for parts of Monday 8/21 -Tuesday 8/22. Watch this feed—we'll keep you posted.

Anyone planning to purchase water at the Gerlach General Improvement District (GGID) today (Tues 8/22) should adjust plans. GGID will not be selling water until at least Weds 8/23. The BRC gate closure remains in effect. Do not drive to Gerlach today.

What should expect at the Gate now that the road is open? Tons of staff will be at the gate. The winds are breezy and there are intermittent whiteouts that will have an impact. But every effort will be made to get you all into the city efficiently. You've been patient. Thanks!

What a wild ride, but guess what? We're down to a 0 min wait time and gates are clear. It's very early in the morning so drive smart. Don't speed through small towns (or anywhere for that matter), watch for road hazards, animals, and pull over off the road if you need to sleep.

Pulsing accomplishes 2 objectives: makes Exodus more enjoyable for the masses since they are allowed to take a break & mingle with their neighbors during stopped periods. Instead of creeping along, you get to stop for an hour at a time and create ONE HOUR NEIGHBORHOODS!

Take all of your aluminum cans to Recycle Camp. There you can help them crush and bag the cans. Then the cans will be delivered to Gerlach where the School organizes to get the cans recycled and they get to keep the deposit money.

The time to exit Black Rock City has now climbed up to 7.5h. We highly suggest that if you have not left yet, wait till morning to leave. Either way at this point, you'll likely be in line until morning. Save yourself the trouble and just spend the night if at all possible.

This year the Gate opens at 12:01 am Sunday, August 28 to encourage entry during off-peak travel times. The event officially starts at 6 pm Sunday, the 28th. Use the earlier arrival time as an opportunity to avoid traffic and set up your camp infrastructure.

An enduring and heavy white out is affecting the Gate. Times to travel from the start of Gate road to your first Gate staff contact is approximately 6 hours. Take extreme care when outside of your vehicle, such as walking to Will Call from the designated parking area.
