Yay, tiered storage (infinite topic retention on cheap cloud storage) for Confluent! This has been on my wish list for a long time. :)

Excited to be a part of driving discussion around the critical topics of diversity and inclusion, especially here in Utah where we have such a fantastic opportunity to build the ecosystem intentionally...

I am not huge on top-down structure if you can avoid it, in terms of sprint planning and so on: let teams do what works. You do need a high-level goals, planning and execution review tho. A weekly metrics/execution review works wonders

Caught my 8 year old sending this note to a school friend (they send notes using Google Docs instead of paper!)... unprompted he has been researching plastic pollution and wants to make a difference! 💚

Great article about the hype around AI in drug discovery and why life sciences VCs are hesitant. > This creates both an opportunity and a challenge for AI-driven drug development companies.

    > drug discovery and development will move from a bespoke to an iterative process. Some might say even a *recursive* process... ;) Software is eating the world. Biology is eating the world. Software 2.0 is eating software.

Finally, you should totally run a competition! Running the competition, while a lot of work, has been totally worth it. has a nice writeup on how successful it was 6/6

Try to make the dataset as small as possible while still providing ample data to train on. (Small datasets encourages participation.) We released an 8-bit and down-sampled version of the data since the information loss was negligible (as evident by the accuracy scores!) 5/6

Because they were so helpful, it is best to get Kaggle involved early on to avoid reworking of the dataset. TL;DR Kaggle is worth every penny, just use them! 4/6

Kaggle was also critical in helping us think through dataset issues and how best to structure it for the competition. Having experienced people who know how competitors think was useful and influenced how we split the dataset. Finally, the Kaggle community is awesome. 3/6

You should not host the competition yourself, just use . Not having to worry about operational or logistic concerns (e.g. distributing cloud credits) was really nice. 2/6
