I suspect (hope) we will see attempts at technological and policy reform to combat these challenges and establish a safer and more trustable internet. They may not succeed at first but at least we can start iterating
As someone who grew up on the “Wild West” days of the internet I will miss the boundless free expression and anonymity, but that model hasn’t scaled and the costs outweigh the benefits at this point (imo)
With any luck a new era of digital freedom will emerge. Freedom from fear of security breaches, unfettered harassment, manipulation campaigns, and the like. In those conditions, social and artistic expression can flourish again.
