    Flat-chestedly & angrily, she said something but meant something else. No matter, she hadn't thought it through. Male protagonist would explain it to her. After all, she was upset because she wanted MP but was married. He pitied & despised her for not knowing what she wanted—him.

    One of the most famous and heart-breaking moments in the Odyssey is about Argos the dog, who has waited 20 years for his old master and is lying neglected, in the dung. He hears O's voice again, pricks up his ears, and then dies.

    I once interviewed Hayes for Sycamore Review in grad school & asked him about visual art & basketball in relation to poems. It did not go nearly this well. Love.
