When an institution has a mission of diversity, and this is one of the main goals of a faculty search, of course diversity statements should be used as a litmus test.

We're looking for a postdoc (or two) to join us to explore the molecular and genetic mechanisms that underlie the evolution of pregnancy in mammals and reptiles, and cancer resistance in vertebrates like 🐘🐳🦇🐍🐢🦎 If you're interested, DM me or email me!

In an annual effort report, is it normal to list effort spent on reviewing and correcting the annual effort report?

Types of peer review: 1) 3 anonymous scientists write secret reviews in a process that takes a few months 2) dozens of known experts write comments that anyone in the world can see hours after a paper is posted (e.g this thread 👇) Explain to me again why is 1 >> 2?

One paper was posted last week and was already downloaded almost 29,000 times! It's currently the most downloaded preprint of all time in the Microbiology category.

Many preprints posted in the past 1-2 weeks, all freely available on bioRxiv, and are getting unprecedented attention. Here are coronavirus papers ordered by recent twitter activity:

I have very little empathy for data fakers. Not only hurt the careers of direct collaborators, but any other scientist who relied on fake results to build their own research program, or was declined funding because it was awarded to the faker based on fake data

New perspective I wrote for where I argue that cohorts with rich molecular and physiological data may allow to prioritize human-relevant targets for drug development In some cases may allow to skip animal testing and move straight to human trials
