    For the record folks, Aznidentity is very antiblack. I was a member there for months and when I called them out on their antiblackness as someone who is Black and Asian, I was immediately banned. They are the bastion of male Asian antiblackness on the internet. Hands down.

    anyway, I feel like what I have said what I have been wanting to say leading up to and after the launch of Shang Chi. This has been sitting for nearly a year if not longer. TL;DR - Up and coming Asian super stars, just b/c ppl ask for an explanation doesn't mean they're hating.

    up with some folks in the Asian content creator circle. I'm almost positive that someone looked me up and was like "oh this is the guy that tried to put SL on blast with that video" and suddenly all of my contacts ghosted me after making plans (some have said that's just LA).

    Instead, when we ask for accountability we get silence on the topic at hand and accused of being a cancel culture mob who only thrives when others fail. This has impacted how I socialize PROFESSIONALLY. Something happened when I went to LA in July where I was supposed to meet

    out of Asian people. Only difference here is, I haven't had 1:1 communication with her, but the point is: If these two, who were both in Shang Chi, would just address the stuff that comes their way a lot more of us would feel comfortable about our hopes for their success.

    so what little I can add to the conversation, we have to sit on and just hope that he does right; that he addresses things, that he clears them up. The same is true for Awkwafina and the origins of her blaccent, her using that blaccent WHILE saying she'd never "make a minstrelsy"

    by being someone who wants Simu Liu to act accountably, and that means by addressing issues that people who WANT to root for him legitimately have, we are being painted, directly by Simu and his stans, as "people who only live to take others down"

    This is all nice but the man you're defending has multiple (two) *recent* (2020) incidences where he has felt the need to argue his points by DMing people on the internet that he has absolutely no connection. His team needs to keep him under control.

    OK, folks. So. I, like many of you, saw the screenshots going around Twitter claiming to be Simu Liu's (very old) Reddit posts. Because I am an ex-academic and always Want The Context, I investigated beyond the screenshots.
