I think its to sow chaos. I dont think Russia cares so much who wins the election as they do about dividing & separating us.

Put yourself in the Russians' shoes. In the Marines we used to call this "red celling." So let's red cell this. If you wanted to ensure that no matter who won the Democratic nomination, they would enter the general election with a fragmented party, how would you accomplish this?

Point taken, though I’d probably take a broader approach rather than putting all my eggs in one basket. I’d have an army of trolls for every candidate and have them tear each other apart. Unless of course I had one candidate in particular I really wanted to win the nomination...

I will, but I will do it with the full knowledge that he’s only marginally better than Trump and is a left wind authoritarian who will try to destroy our democracy.
