For those interested in the Open Source Scan Convertor, I can confirm that the Elgato HD60 Pro (the model that plugs into a desktop's internal PCIx port) is directly compatible with the OSSC, provided you use the card's DirectShow driver.

For those who don't know, the Pro's "Instant Gameview" feature, which allows the card to display the preview window in near real time, uses a stream of uncompressed frames from the HDMI source using DirectShow. Elgato has released an official driver to stream this feed.

If you tap into the DirectShow feed, you can then compress and record it with programs like OBS, and unlike with the vanilla software, the Elgato then becomes compatible with nonstandard resolutions such as 1280x960.

Ok. Here is a stupid question. How do you even do that? Is it only with the Pro card? Can you do it with other Elgatos?

It's only on the Pro model and I think the HD60 S model (the one that uses USB 3.0).
