The more I play Jak 1 the more I really like it. I don't think I've played another collectathon that's so consistently solid from start to finish. The movement is great and fun to master, there's no one bad level and the graphics and world are an achievement for a 2001 PS2 title.
It's good but for me, while it is very solid, in the personality department it just fails to stand out compares to other games. Even if Dee Snider voices the main bad guy.

Oh, I agree about the characters. They're very forgettable, with only Daxter and Samos being memorable and entertaining to me, both on their own and the dynamic between them two. In terms of gameplay, though, I think it's one of those games that has no true low points.
