Imma say something controversial here but... with the improvements made to Crash 1. I find it more enjoyable than 2 now.

Well, the core secrets for getting the basic 100% in 3 was a lot more manageable. The secrets werent needed for the best ending I think in 3
True, but I did love the clever ways you got the colored gems in 2. If anything the secret warp room access were cryptic, but I like it.

Im just wondering how anyone is expected to get the blue gem for instance. Is there any hints in the original game Ive missed?

Yes. Back then where you see the box counter at the end it'd say whatever number you smash out of zero. For example, 32/0.
