It's probably the reason why I dropped 2011 because I didn't like a lot of the changes they did with the Hunter Exam arc. But I heard it gets a lot better once it gets to Yorkshin.

Comparing the first fews arcs, 1999 has far better animation, storyboarding, and lighting choices which overlap with the overall stronger direction. But 2011 has less garish color choices for some character designs and much stronger sound design. 1999's sound effects are awful
