I am so sorry Mystery Dungeon fans, I want to love this game. The story and the writing are pretty charming, but the gameplay just feels clunky to me. Maybe it gets better past the demo but I am just not into it.

Considering how primitive most Pokemon games are even today when you really look at it, it shouldn't be much harder to swallow. The frame dips aren't excusable, but they're par for the course with Pokemon nowadays! The game's story and casual replayability are the appeal with PMD
True. Even though my brain got used to the frame dips in Swsh. And heck I thought the story of that game was pretty mediocre at best, but at least the gameplay saves it

Mystery Dungeon is very much the opposite - the gameplay isn't super special, it's the charm and the fantastic story that carry you through the early jank
