Man I absolutely love the combat in Astral Chain but it's not for everyone. I can totally see not being super invested in the story though.
The combat took me a while to get a hang of, particularly after I got 3 legions under my belt and I got to unlock sync attacks. The story is a drag, but I think I was spoiled after spending 180 hours in Three Houses.

Yeah things really do open up combat wise after you start unlocking more stuff. I liked the story but it was predictable and not as crazy as other Platinum games

A lot of people were praising the acting and I thought it was just kind of okay. I like some characters like Marie, Hal and Kyle, but the rest were cardboards. Especially the twins' dad that sounds like he is in his 20s.
