My problem with Captain Marvel as a character in the MCU is that she's too damn powerful. In her own Solo movie she was inhibited for whole film, and in Endgame she was basically written out until the story needed a Deus Ex Machina to get them out of the situation they were in.

I think her origins are cool but she needs a severe Nerf if she's going to carry another solo movie, or have her facing off against a threat powerful enough to rival her. Or some sort of weakness, kryptonite, something to give her stakes and keep her grounded.

This has nothing to do with politics or the fact she's a woman; I'd be saying the same thing if Captain Marvel was portrayed as a Man. I thought her Solo movie was decent, but she really needs some more clear cut abilities, something that really tests her strength.

The more time passes the less I like Captain Marvel as a movie and for the exact reason you brought up as Carol Danvers is simply too OP for me to care for her as a character. I can't believe I am saying this but DC actually won the battle of the "Captain Marvel"s.
