I struggle writing a tweet that does this clip justice, so I'll say listen to how Lateefah Simon & #KamalaHarris worked together to END SF's policy of charging anyone under the age of 18 with prostitution. What's striking is how empathy drove that advocacy

It's shocking how much resistance there was to
#KamalaHarris' Back on Track program she & Lateefah Simon created. As it helped 100s of mostly Black & Latino drug offenders get jobs, counseling, dental work, etc it was ridiculed as Hug a Thug & Back on Crack INSIDE the DA's officepic.twitter.com/Yvd1KgDTS3Show this thread

Worth noting that when
@DrJasonJohnson began speaking against the BB and supporting@SenKamalaHarris@KamalaHarris his career was sidelined. I wonder how much internalized oppression drives people's support 2 candidate that brings the least attack on them. I think the % is high.pic.twitter.com/P38NGFbBRd

Great conversation! For some reason, I didn't think about the resistance _inside_ the DA's office to her Back on Track program... "hug a thug"?! Wow.https://twitter.com/Gutsy_kdh/status/1269715582779305985 …
