    I'm sometimes surprised by what hasn't been studied carefully. For example, how human motivation fluctuates over time (even minute by minute) hadn't been studied until relatively recently.

    In my work on motivation, I define these terms: Fear is the anticipation of loss (or something bad) Hope is the anticipation of gain (or something good)

    Two assumptions underlying what I just tweeted: Fear and Hope are opposing forces, like vectors. By reducing Fear, Hope becomes more prominent (you can feel it more readily).
