Conclusion, with TP set you can have a free extra palette color. But it can only be used for background images. When copying on top of something else, using the Logic Move commands for transparency, this color 0 will disappear.
4/4
Take into account that when TP is set and you want to copy an image with Logic Move, this new color 0 will disappear!
It only shows if you use the High-speed Move.
Check the difference between the left planets (using LMMM) and the ship and right planet (using HMMM)

However, if TP ( bit 5 on R#8 ) is set, then suddenly color index 0 ignores the border color and shows as the palette color ( pink )! Yay! We've got one more color now!
In BASIC you can do this with VDP(9)=VDP(9) OR &B00100000

Learned something new! Color index 0 on #MSX 2 and up, is the "transparant" color. Which I believed meant that it always shows as the border color.
Like in this example, I made the 0 palette bright pink. But it still shows like the border color!

A shame though, they put MSX2+ on the box but didn't use the horizontal scroll register of the V9958. ( Like they did with Space Manbow, half a year later. )
Cleaned-up scan for Konami's Pinball. This game was never released, but they even had the logo done already 😪 I'd love to see this game one day! There must be a demo somewhere on a long lost floppy!! Search those drawers Konami! 😅#MSX
Scanned and cleaned-up illustration for Hyper Rally from the Konami catalogue. This looks to be an early sketch and doesn't look much like the final art they used for the game. They even changed the number on the car! 😅#MSX
Until I find the real map... I grabbed an image from an auction site ( sorry! ) and cleaned it up in Photoshop.
This will have to do for now 😅🏴☠️ Higemaru 魔界島 #MSX
That one game in your collection that's just weird... 😕🤪
What is this game? Where did it come from? Why do I have this?
I can't read Japanese! I tried to play, but I can't figure out how it works... 😅#MSX
to "paint" this white floppy drive black. Thing is, rather than black, it's got a dark copper color now. But that's totally fine. It looks a bit Steampunk now! 😅#MSX Panasonic FS-FD1A
Here's a thread for @SaigadoGames as we were talking yesterday about the cartridges of the #MSX Konami side-shooter games being the same in Japan as in Europe. 1/8
As far as I know the contents of the ROM is always the same. Some things (like the title screen or text) are different when you put the cartridge in a Japanese or European MSX!
Metal Gear 1 is an exception. The Japanese version refuses to play on European MSX computers. 😅 8/8
The European cardboard boxes are more fragile too, that's why I keep them in plastic protector cases. And I try to always grab the Japanese cartridge to play as I don't want to break the fragile European boxes 😅 7/8
Not all Konami releases in Europe had the same cartridge labels though, some had a cheap looking white label. As for example Vampire Killer ( 悪魔城ドラキュラ) 6/8
Here's all of them together ( at least the ones I have ). Even though I prefer the European boxes because of the nostalgia... but objectively, the Japanese boxes are more beautiful 😅 5/8
The other games were released in smaller boxes, with ugly manuals 😅 The cartridges are all the same though.
The box art is different because of the naming differences between Japan and Europe. Especially "ゴーファーの野望EPISODEII" which is called "Nemesis 3" here. 4/8
"Super Cobra" or "スーパーコブラ" was released in Europe in the typical orange box with a localized manual. I believe the Japanese box was of the other orange variant. With different art. But I only have the EU version here. 2/8
Pink Floyd's "Pulse" is pulsating again after 25 years! Thought it was broken when it didn't come back to life after swapping the battery, but it turns out the battery holder is mounted the wrong way around on the print 🙈
Saw this in a sneaker shop. It drew my attention because I love Section Z -> see how I _almost_ beat the game with 1 credit: https://buff.ly/3HULy7B
Then I looked again... and that's a custom Mario cabinet 🤪 Why did they pick Section Z for the marquee? So many questions!
After toying around with Midjourney AI this evening, the most satisfying result turned out to be this "Tom Selleck as Indiana Jones" -- Someone just mentioned Tom was offered the role first and I wondered what that would've looked like...
Long sought-after Higemaru enters the collection! ⚓️
And the manual is on-route as well! The only thing missing is the map. Which seems quite rare and hard to find sadly.
Shame about the wrinkles! Why do Japanese games have so many??? 😅#MSX
The external Panasonic drive is fixed and properly powered! And yes, I'm aware there's a horrible white front on that floppy drive. But it's 100% functional now and I can move on with life until I find a black replacement front! 😅
Really love how compact this thing is! #MSX
Surprise glimpse into the HAL kitchen as the contacts were a bit dirty and "Karamaru's Strange Trip" 「カラ丸珍道中」 crashed.. to BASIC 😅 Apparently this game was partially written in #MSX Basic!
Lovely, that "20TH-APR-84" remark 😍
