This may surprise you but I'm not a fan of Christmas; Valentine's day, Halloween, Easter, Mothers & Fathers day etc. I think it's a load of materialistic, society driven bullshit.

It's about the consumer. Which is always us. As a father, you know that joy can supersede you everyday without having to celebrate an occasion. It's a pressure to monetarily promote these 'celebrations'. The social stigma & pressures on family's is getting more intense. X

Yes as an adult and father I can recognize happiness without materialistic properties. However as a child (I have 4 kids), bdays, xmas (secular), etc is all about the kids, my kids. Don't confuse my kids joy with being spoiled, as they enjoy giving gifts more than receiving.

I'm just saying, hypothetically, if all these occasions didn't exist, would life be more simplified less egotistical? Kids get bullied because their parents can't afford presents. I'm rose glasses but I wish people would get as much happiness from nature as presents. It's free.

If I had a choice to remove certain social constructs from our society, I'd start with the ancient, outdated, barbaric and idiotic beliefs and practices of religion. But I get your point. I hope you get mine
