I rode out of Afghanistan on an APC as he ended the Soviet occupation and didn’t sleep for three intense days in August 1991 when the country changed forever. My lasting memory is of the time he went on a walk about on Sparks Mall in Ottawa.

Within 2 years I was in a OB truck in the Kremlin translating for the US and Soviet directors of the 1st western TV interview he gave, to of I missed the fall of the Berlin Wall but a month later was in Prague as communism collapsed in the Velvet Revolution.
