    Kudos to Letterman for playing the “dismissing as a toy” role perfectly (or better yet (?) for inspiring ’s heuristic). Heuristic 2.0: if they aren’t saying ‘X ring a bell?’ ‘Y ring a bell?’ and you aren’t laughing like Bill, move on.

    Old video clips of founder interviews cycle through the feed every few months. And I enjoy em. So I'm dedicating this thread as my home base for my favorites, starting with this classic.

    Have only stayed in NYC a few weeks. So I don’t feel qualified to offer any takes other than this: I enjoyed the book and think there is a lot to learn about writing from reading E.B.’s writing. Here’s some of the memorable lines that made me think:

    Adding a little credibility - recommended by

    Book recommendation: "The Elements of Style" by William Strunk, Jr. and E.B. White This "little" book packs a wallop and reminds us that we really suck at writing. The books goal is to make us suck less. It's effective, read it.

    For me, two books stand above the rest: The Elements of Style by William Strunk and E.B. White (1918 originally) On Writing Well by William Zinsser (1976 originally) Most of the newer books I read (and stopped reading) just repackage the principles from these two books.
