The people who are annoyed comedians are on politics shows believe politics as we know it is a ‘serious’ game with ‘sensible’ players. It isn’t. Truss becoming PM is the epitome of how ludicrous the system has long been. We need more pundits pointing that out, not fewer.

This is how it starts. Attacks on scientists publishing peer reviewed work in journals that supports a conclusion the right doesn’t agree with. And then they have the audacity to talk about cancel culture.

If you’re marching around the place pretending that we haven’t become the first country in the world to impose economic sanctions on itself or that pretty much every problem we face hasn’t been exacerbated by Brexit, then I imagine it’s easy to claim that Johnson did a good job.

In South Korea 🇰🇷, the solar panels in the middle of the highway have a bicycle path underneath - cyclists are protected from the sun, isolated from traffic, and the country can produce clean energy.

Good to have something positive to think about as the nights draw in.

Brits were also the most likely to agree that the cost of living crisis made the case for accelerating the transition to renewable energy, we've found similar in our focus groups with people saying it's the only way to 'stop us relying on madmen like Putin' (12/n)

Brexit campaigners and the Prime Minister repeatedly denied that leaving the EU would be used as a means to strip workers of their rights, and attacked anyone who suggested otherwise. It turns out that doing just that is now one of the government's number one priorities.

I really hate that guy-in-a-hotdog-suit meme and yet...

The fact that we're talking about rationing energy, kids dying from the cold, thousands of businesses facing closure, millions unable to afford to keep warm this winter, should be a matter of national shame. None of this just "happened". It's the result of political choices.

1/2: In 2020, Trump called Democrats "fascists" in '20 while surrounded by military officials. No one remembers it bc Dems didn't feel threatened by his false claim. Today, MAGA Republicans are angry at President Biden for a similar remark. Because they know it's true.

This is even more incredible given the seriousness of the economic situation.

Throughout the divisive Conservative leadership race, one subject has reigned supreme – trans exclusion. We need better from our next Prime Minister they must stop using trans & non-binary people as a political football to score points with. As I said in @PinkNews

As Boris Johnson does a victory lap at the conclusion of his reign in No.10, it is important to remember that he leaves in shame, forced out by his own MPs - no-one else - after a tenure characterised by deceit, elitism, cronyism, bigotry, and predictable ignominy. Remember him.

Boris Johnson, who illegally shut down parliament, brought in Voter ID laws that risk disenfranchising millions of voters, and has restricted the right of people to protest against his own government, warns that attempts to hold him to account risk "endangering democracy".

Biden's speech is old school. But it is also revolutionary. Because it is sending the message that at this moment, we cannot afford to deflect or tiptoe around the threat posed by MAGA, we must call it what it is, step up to the fight and defeat them.

The message from some Starmer supporters seems to have moved from ‘he didn’t lie in the 2020 leadership election!!’ to ‘he did lie but it doesn’t matter’. I don’t think even the most vocal allies can say that Starmer didn’t lie to those who had the power to make him leader.

The thing is, I’ve had a lot of the usual abuse from Keir Starmer’s very well coordinated online army, but none of them responding to the actual substance. It’s because they can’t refute the accusation - Starmer’s leadership campaign was dishonest - that they resort to abuse. twitter.com/OwenJones84/st…

Biden: It's semi-fascism Trump: It's late August 2022 and I demand to either be declared president or have an immediate 2020 election do-over before the FBI gangsters charge me Assorted pundits: My goodness, I can't believe Biden went there. A very divisive rhetorical choice

Whether or not you agree with public ownership, Keir Starmer is talking nonsense here. Attlee nationalised rail, coal, electricity, gas and more when debt to GDP ratio was around 200%. Today it's under 100%. Public debt is not an obstacle to purchasing revenue-generating assets

Starmer blames the pandemic when asked why he's ditched the pledges he made to get elected Labour leader

I'm constantly baffled by how people in media & politics can freely call leftists trots, thugs, antisemites, woke snowflakes, virtue signallers & moronic children with student politics, and no one EVER says "Hey careful now, you need to persuade these people to vote for you!"
Quote Tweet
Replying to @piercepenniless
That is certainly true (though it does raise the likelihood that many of their parents vote differently). And, to extend the thought, some of their parents at least need to be persuaded to not vote Conservative. Which the Lucy Powell shirt won’t do.

Andy Burnham - Liz Truss & Rishi Sunak are calling for more Thatcherism, but that's what got us into this mess in the 80s... we sold off the gas, electric, water, buses & trains... & now people can't afford these essentials now... #GMB

This Mumsnet post by one of the protesters who tried to stop the Cardiff Pride march at the weekend suggests that anti-trans activists are starting to realise that, despite their claims, they don't speak for the majority of women.

This is extremely important and totally correct.

I think it's time we start covering Trumpism for what it is now. It's no longer a political movement. It's a violent fairytale of revenge on political enemies. Feds could've found a body in those Mar a Lago boxes and followers wouldn't care. It's about retribution, not facts.
