1/Here is what is really wrong with the silly rules experiments. If you want to turn baseball back to the way it was played 60 years ago--which I am not saying you should, but if you do--it is extremely easy to do that with three to five simple rules changes.

I've been saying this too. Moving the mound back a bit plus a slightly deader ball would get them back to putting balls in play. Cut in half the 45 seconds it takes every 8th-inning guy to throw a pitch and you're all but there.

leave the mound where it is

I like the individual battle between pitcher and catcher, what’s the rush?

The ball is a joke compared to what it was even a few years ago. Flat seams, tighter. De-juice it back a few years and just call strike zone in rule book. High strikes would make hitters swing more, fewer walks and strikeouts, more balls in play, shorter games. Not hard.

I agree bill. Delay in between pitches is too much. Guys adjusting their batting gloves. Pitchers walking off the back of the mound. What gets the most is when pitchers and catchers can’t get on the same page and take forever, then the batter steps out.

One of these days an insightful journalist needs to publish a video-intensive piece playing a ballgame from 1978 & a 2019 game on split-screen to illustrate the point. Not even a Randy Jones start just an average game.

4) Call the strike zone to the rule book

I don't mind the excessive pitching changes as much as the on-field warm up pitches. You just had time in the bullpen to warm up. You're being paid a king's ransom. You don't need to waste more of our time.
-
Such a simple, common sense rule change that will have a huge impact. This idea does not get nearly the support it deserves.

Have to disagree- you can't get games to be shorter without dramatically lowering pitchcounts, and none of those rule changes will do that
-
The solution to lowering pitch counts is for umps to call pitches accurately. How often do we see an ump call a ball on a 2-2 pitch in the strike zone? Ring up the batters, and they will start swinging.
