Did Rose bet on games just as a manager or as a player as well? I was never clear on that.

Thought it was just a manager

Looks to me like 74% of respondents don't realize that Pete Rose gambled on the game and parlayed his success into sex with at least one minor

Or don't care or are just answering the question as posed.

I would vote yes for three of the above ... Rose, Freehan, Allen in that order.

Obviously Rose, on talent and statistics. But, he's not eligible. So Dick Allen is the only answer. I love Boog and Freehan, but Dick Allen (I still call him Richie) was a special talent. He should be in.

All 4 are superstars of my generation... but Rose is a true HOF player

Would vote for Barry before Rose. Some rules are bigger than others.

Rose easy. Dick Allen was great, not enough years. Powell led the league in slugging once. Really terrific player & champion, not HOF. Freehan was a modest hitter with a few good years, but he won 5 straight gold gloves & was an All-Star 11 times. HOF.

Rose is a first ballot Hall of Famer on paper, I'd have no problem if he & Shoeless Joe Jackson are admitted someday. Still, he bet against* the team he was managing I voted for Allen because he broke the rules that should have been broken *unless he bet the same amount everyday
