With Jerry Jeudy still to go, fifth-year option pickup rates by position from 2011-20. DL includes edge rushers, while LB is off-LOS LBs. Tough to make the case for RBs + LBs when they don't offer great surplus value *and* hit in the first round less often than other positions.

Surprised Love would take this. The fifth-year option was $20.3 million. Love took $6.8 million less in guarantees for the upside of earning $2.2 million more. I guess the Packers could have declined that fifth-year option, but seemed pretty unlikely after the Rodgers trade.

You can trade those picks into the future, you can move around in that year's draft ... trading a future 3 for a current 4 (or a future 2 for a current 3, etc) almost always works out to be a bad idea. Usually one the Eagles are on the other side of.

Howie Roseman is having a great draft, but this is not a good move. If you think you can safely assume that the 2024 pick will be at the bottom of the third round, remember the 2005 Eagles.

Every single year after the end of the first round: There's *SO* many teams who want to trade for the first pick of the second round. Every single year when the team picking at the top of the second round is actually on the clock: They fell in love and *had* to pick this guy.
