    My friends in China—Americans and Chinese—think Trump is a nuisance they can deal with who is causing US decline, whereas Biden will be more difficult cause he’s smarter and will organize US allies. They’re right.

    My heart is full for President Bush and his family. One of the most gracious, honest and decent persons I’ve had the privilege to know. Meeting with him on China or beef exports or just being with him he was always delightfulful and wonderful to be with. Even inspirational.

    Chinese will see Trump 100 billion dollar tariff threat as weakness. Shooting from the hip, based on emotion, rather than logical thought out plan. Best way to address Chinese protectionism is US leading EU, Japan, etc in concert.

    Trump tariffs won't cause China to back off from Made in China 2025--their plan to develop new core technologies, Different US plan needed to address Chinese protectionism. Meanwhile, we must double down to develop our own infrastructure and new technologies for growth.
