We cannot talk about these things in isolation. The problem is not GM in Oshawa. The problem is Maple Leaf, closing 3 plants but building one new one, etc.https://twitter.com/katrinacecile/status/1069959121858899970 …

Ed Broadbent calls foul on GM: "Given Canada and Oshawa’s combination of cutting-edge research capacity and skilled autoworkers, it’s difficult to believe GM could find a better location to invest in its stated objective." #cdnpoli #onpoli #canlab https://www.thestar.com/opinion/contributors/thebigdebate/2018/12/04/is-shutting-the-oshawa-gm-plant-inevitable-no.html …

The problem is unfettered capitalism. The problem is tax laws that allow corporations to park here, have their products made in low cost, low quality conditions and sold here as domestic.

The problem is employees are meaningless drones. Even when we unionize to somewhat level the playing field, governments will introduce legislation to interfere or destroy protections won nearly a century ago

The problem is corporations who, without conscience, will shed their staff to the point of driving working people into various states of poor mental and physical health. People will cheer because stock prices are up.

The problem is you are no longer valued as a human. You no longer have any value to the government/corporate rulers who toil daily for themselves. To increase their wealth. Their friends. Executives. Politicians and friends. Large scale shareholders (not your piddly savings)

The problem is society has become a meaningless meat grinder for all, save a few. Society has been fed so many myths by unfettered capitalism we routinely believe things, when looked at critically, are absolute bunk.

The problem is all of our current politicians, and all of business, have nearly divided us into small jingoistic camps where we are solely interested in whether our "team" will "win" the next game, wherein the game is called an "election"

The problem is, we live in a point in history where we are all being harmed by the same people in the same ways, with the same common purpose, yet we have been taught by those same people our fight isn't against those harming us. That's secondary.

The problem is we absolutely believe the real problem is people are voting for some other team. Real issues and real action are secondary to whether your team wins. So we all continue to lose, to slide further back, to erode any social safety net.

The problem is every time we elect our team we are so happy we ignore the damage they do until it's done. We appear to have never noticed no matter what team we choose, we still lose as they scramble to undo whatever meagre progress we've made in the 6 decades I've been here

The problem is us. Our own tribalism. Our own abhorrence of truth, facts, and ideas. Our unmitigated laziness in the face of unfettered capitalism, where the common person vastly outnumbers the ultimate few who have, and continue to steal the wealth of nations

and to hide and hoard that wealth for the benefit of the very few. The only thing they fear is people coming to the realization we are ultimately more powerful than they are if we know they're dividing us to profit off us and not a one gives a damn what happens to you

No matter what team you cheer for. Your team has already been bought and paid for. You don't have the bank account to get into the club. The club also demands a larger share of your bank account. Guaranteeing you will never get in.
