A young artist is possibly out of thousands of dollars due to who has ghosted her. He claimed the book was going to be published by , but there was never any deal. Creators are already very vulnerable in their fields. This is absolutely horrible.

has a whole supporting cast of characters. Two that really grabbed me were "Rag and Bones - a mean skeleton" and "A community of rabbits wearing tiny outfits". I think the rabbits would repeatedly give Rag and Bones a joyous send-off. It would annoy him.

It's official! and I have successfully finished and launched the STANDARD COMIC SCRIPT. A template for creative teams to use when scripting comics! No more inconsistencies, no more miscommunication!

im leery of using words like 'harm done' since it's overused and often wrongly used, but jerking ppl around for months on end w the promise of a paycheck and then ghosting when the pay does not materialize IS harm done! Nicky coulda spent that time on PAID work!

i hate that we have to rely on public mess to get a response frm ppl who've done tangible harm (like getting someone to work for MONTHS w promise of a $$$ check and then not producing that $$$) but listen if ur brand is "I uplift marginalized creators 🤪" then......whoof.

man i know twitter is not the place to call for accountability regarding financial harm done but at this point that is quite literally the ONLY recourse some of us have; communication on this front was attempted several times so time to scream it from the rooftops ig

Nicky was (allegedly 🤪) promised one thing and spent months working that will now likely go unpaid; Professor Latinx, as someone who claims to uplift marginalized creators and their stories, shouldn't be doing things like this!

To clarify I'm deeply upset on Nicky's behalf because this is just the latest in a line of activities by ppl OUTSIDE of comics attempting to 'break into' comics from a ~writer's~ perspective who have no respect for the creators they use, abuse, and dispose of.

the writer who refused to give nicky an agreement is , who supposedly uses his platform to uplift-- but at what cost? refusing to pay your artist for all the hard work she's done? refusing to pay for not just the work BUT ALSO the kill fee when asked?

A close-up comic panel in black-and-white of a plump older Latina woman with dark hair clipped back at her neck. She is sitting and leaning over in a chair, her right arm holding an open book, while her left hand ruffles her nephews hair. He raises his arms in a good-natured recoil while his grandmother watches benevolently, her smile multiplying her many wrinkles.
A middle-aged plump Latina woman sits in a chair chatting amicably with her mother while she holds a cup of café con Leche. Her long wavy dark hair is pulled back away from her face.
A middle-aged Latina woman grips the steering wheel of her car as she delivers a stern admonishment to her niece. Her long wavy dark hair is piled up on top of her head, and her elegantly manicure nails have little hearts on them.
A middle-aged Latina woman sips at a cup of tea with her eyes closed. Her long wavy dark hair is pulled back from her head and Cascades down her back. Her puffy white shirt rests off the shoulder, and she has a gold bracelet with the name Inez stamped on top of it.
