Silent epidemics: Some 180,000 Americans die each year from diet-related chronic diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, stroke and more. Also an "incalculable loss," right? And preventable with improved diet--a 'vaccine' we have but don't use bc food/pharma $$ prevent it.pic.twitter.com/noEOi1nIUJ

Big pharma / food would argue the year isn’t over 😐🙄 - pretty sure that would be their response.

That’s just stupid. Diabetes is not a communicable disease. High cholesterol is not infectious, Hypertension can not be caught by coughing in someone’s personal space. There is no comparison. Obviously, science really isn’t your thing.

One is an infectious, highly communicable disease that can cause death within weeks of acquisition. The other is not, making this a dangerous false equivalency.

They are both bad. I think the point here is the media goes nuts about case numbers - but not % tested. If I hear of 500 new cases I assume 50,000 were tested. Of those 500 maybe 10 die and average age 76. Ballparkish?

Unchecked Covid would have killed 1-2 million Americans. So even if diet related illness was communicable... the comparison is micro apples to big city crushing oranges.

I agree - good thing we got it in check. But what about the next pandemic....it will slaughter us in 10 years if we are fatter and its a more vicious strain....

Theses types of comparisons are wrong, but what is true is that this is a big problem and needs to be adressed. This and many other problems (pollution, gambling, mental health)

Plus the numbers don't tell the whole story. I hear about more people dying in US from virus than those who died in Vietnam, WW1, Korea. yes but what about average age comparison? Is that important. But I agree with you - both big problems of course and won't be solved tomorrow
