Meet Burnie. Rescued while trying cross the tar road heading towards more burnt ground on our farm. A speedy (and smelly) trip to the dam otherwise it would have be a long and hot walk through more ash & charcoal finding water 400m away. 🐢

After a stinking hot windy day working on the farm nature rewards. Got a little excited (almost missing the proof), finding a that had survived . Not our dam, but a new record in my books. And, on another dam, a seagull hanging out with wood ducks

The NSW biodiversity conservation trust is paying a landholder in the Monaro, sth NSW $11.2 million to manage 745 hectares for 20 years = $758/ha/yr!! I'm definitely in the wrong game. It costs taxpayers $35/ha/yr to manage a national Park. How can the BCT justify this?

Wagga Wagga met office should have broken the January heat record today with 45.3 surpassing the previous hottest day at 45.2. Problem is that record was broken on the 4th when it hit 46.1

A great thread on how important the northern section of Kosciuszko is for rare plants. Love this place so much - was on the team that mapped the forest communities for the RFA.

Once common lyrebird may be listed as threatened due to scale of never ending fires. Such a beautiful songster and soil scratcher in forest ecosystems. Semi flightless so had no chance. When will the horror end?

Beautiful Kosciszcuko National Park burnt black. Numerous threatened native species struggling for survival - now sharing remaining habitat with 25,000 feral horses. Berejiklian Barilaro gov must urgently act to save species from extinction. This 👇🏼 is an ecological emergency.

"Defending the undefendable". My dad took this photo of Batlow today. As a local of 77 yrs he never thought he would ever see a bushfire this large or intense. We will be forever grateful to , & other RFS crews + the locals who saved our town on 4/1/20
