The IBU has taken note of the recommendation by the Finnish Government and health authorities to cancel all events with more than 500 participants. IBU, @KlahtiBiathlon, Finnish Biathlon Federation, authorities of Kontiolahti's municipality and Joensuu will fully implement them.
From this afternoon the event will be closed for the public. Moreover, the number of people involved at the venue will be reduced to below 500 to guarantee that the competitions can go ahead as planned until Sunday. The competition schedule for Kontiolahti will not change.
Does it mean today's competition is cancelled?
No, all competitions in Kontiolathi will take place as scheduled but without spectators such as in Nove Mesto
