    Longitudinal work by et al: remote work has created Silos. With more asynchronous collaborations and not as much synchronous as we thought. And more importantly silos might affect future health of companies if employees don’t connect with new people over time.

    New study in uses causal inference to separate the effects of remote work from COVID-19. Remote work causes: more siloed communication between workers, more time spent on IM and email, and, surprisingly, less time in meetings:

    Was great to chat with about the ever-fascinating and super-important dynamics between the language editions of Wikipedia. These dynamics define what hundreds of millions of people and some of our most important AI systems learn about the world!

    I’m kvelling! Very proud for Jaime :) This is a huge deal and it’s so well-deserved.

    My manager just sent a note announcing my promotion to CVP, and people I work with across Microsoft are reaching out to celebrate with me. It makes me strangely uncomfortable. I need to figure out how sit with that discomfort and just enjoy it.

    Pretty jaw dropping demo, and the paper is awesome. Worth noting -- if you've written code that ended up on GitHub OR text that ended up on the web, you're likely a contributor. IMO, that makes this even cooler, and more exciting.
