Why do people forget that the EU actively stopped refugees from crossing the Mediterranean Sea and set up Libyan detention camps to stop them reaching European waters. The treatment of migrants by the EU is absolutely abhorrent and not enough has been done to condemn this.
“The EU turns a blind eye to the treatment of detainees, too. European governments are not just aware of the torture, sexual abuse and extortion to which detainees are subject but also, in the words of Amnesty International’s John Dalhuisen, “complicit in these abuses”.
Because of governments like ours that wanted to turn back refugees.
Unfortunately it’s many other EU government’s as well, and Amnesty international has called them out on it. Wish there was a way to change things and help these refugees.
If you truly believe in the EU and it's mission then you also know it has its flaws and will point them out whilst supporting the EU. The EU is not perfect but you can't make it better by leaving....

Half of us did not turn a blind eye. We voted and lost an illegal referendum.
We are still here.
And of course Amnesty International are up there at the front.
The first casualty's in any war are always the most vulnerable.
The mistake is believing they are the only ones
Mmm, because the UK has been a beacon of light in respect to this. 
Of course they haven’t. I’m just mentioning how the treatment of refugees by the EU hasn’t been talked about much, and I wish we had the chance to reform and change this.
It’s the white middle class liberals who have this massively romanticised view of the EU
