Generally you need to know how to use Borg. But there are good orientation classes. Average Googler needs little knowledge about HOW Borg works.

How far does BCL creep into sufficient “use” knowledge? Are there minimum-bar use entry points that have normalized?

BCL was used by everyone using Borg pretty much when I was there. There are good docs and patterns. It only trips people up as they try to do more complicated things. There are sharp edges for sure though.

Yes, vast amounts of BCL. This is changing. I hope to be able to talk about it more soon. One thing I mentioned in my Declarative App. Mgmt. doc is that declarative data models were layered both over and under BCL because it proved to be an obstacle to automation.
