Crazy k8s idea brewing. Would it be possible to build a minimal standalone API server kubernetes-sigs/apiserver-runtime (or similar) combined with kubernetes/apiextensions-apiserver for a minimal Kubernetes-style API with CRD support without the rest of the k8s primitives?

Agree, it's really hard to get people to see the possibilities given K8s is so tied to "run this container for me". There are so many places K8s style API's would be a major step up over cobbled together solutions, but I haven't gotten people close to consider it.
