Curious what made the service catalogue model not good ? That one didn’t require creating a crd per resource ?
Different goals. Many people wanted a unique CRD type for each underlying resource type. One reason: type-specific RBAC. Another reason is similar to Terraform: expose all the knobs of the underlying provider rather than provide a simpler abstraction.

This makes sense. This implementation makes it significantly easier to integrate with other pipeline tools including Kustomize and OPA.

but again tying these things to one cloud provider will probably be a strict no no for a lot of users. Hoping some of these crd's are generic enough to be used for aws as well or come up with a model in crd where the same object can be loaded with different schemas
