Any plans for open sourcing the controller(s)? Would love to be able to build upon something like this for Cluster API.

What does crossplane use now, and what would prevent using this as is? It is available in GKE.

I'm excited about this. Infrastructure and software, deployed the same way, with the same pipeline and tools. I'm curious to learn if this is using Cluster API for the GKE Kind, or if it's connected to that project.

GKE launched in 2014, just a few months after Kubernetes, long before Cluster API existed. This is using the existing GKE API under the hood.

Does GCP have Cloud Formation thing? We internally allow Kubernetes to provision 120+ cloud services by converting AlibabaCloud ROS (https://www.alibabacloud.com/product/ros ) to CRDs (oam workloads) automatically which is easier to maintain IMO.
