I really think declarative config (YAML and JSON) is where the two approaches differ.
Does your configuration then mention versions or shas? Versioning and updating is something we’ve been struggling with with declarative infra along with repo sprawl. Are you going repos to asset management systems like a cmdb some way or is repo just tag on deployed artifact?
