So I'll be the first to ask this: what are generics exactly? I google'd it a few times but I can never find concrete examples. If Go actually supported it, what would it look like?

Concrete: look at http://k8s.io/apimachinery/pkg/util/sets … - we have int, int64, string, etc. All are the EXACT same code but for the type names. What if you could instead say `http://set.New <int>()` or something and only have the code typed out once? Let the compiler do the ugly parts.

Ah, that's a concrete example I can grok. But even then, certain operations only apply for `int` and some for `string`, so how do you work around that? Would stdlib now have to take in generics instead of types?
