So I'll be the first to ask this: what are generics exactly? I google'd it a few times but I can never find concrete examples. If Go actually supported it, what would it look like?

I wrote a C++ template lib for "strongly typed" integers (because that's not a thing in C++). It took 17 minutes to compile the unit test and produced less than 32 KB of code. The whole thing got optimized away...
