So was it you that came up with the terms "taints and tolerations" or was that @davidopp? 
It was John Wilkes (https://twitter.com/WIRED/status/319494699704545281 …). In Omega, taints could be carried by scheduling units and "infect" nodes they were scheduled to, creating a kind of sticky pod anti-affinity. That could be used to implement a policy from Borg called "exclusive".
