      Some things need to be right from the beginning because they are infeasible to change. Other things can wait. None of CRI, CNI, CSI, API aggregation, CRD, admission webhooks, etc. existed at the beginning of the project. It's a gradual process of creating the plugin APIs.

      Yeah I was using it as example off top of head bc it is in K3s. A managed cloud data store would be great and it would be easier if Kubernetes had this as extensibility point.

      Small scale with a few clients is easier than large clusters supporting a broad ecosystem of clients. It will take some time to support pluggable storage upstream
