      To me the main feature is that they’re the beginning of config-file-based infrastructure. Imagine a language that can translate a business requirement into a full tech stack. That’s where we’re heading.

      I've been starting to think that the right label for Kubernetes is "operating system" not "orchestration." An OS mediates access to hardware, it manages processes and filesystems, and provides security primitives.

      "Orchestration" has never been technically accurate. We only adopted the term because that's what everyone called tools and systems that ran containers on multiple hosts, and otherwise people didn't know what we were talking about.
