The way the Bloomberg article is worded, it could actually just be UMG executives using their biggest artist (Kendrick) as leverage against Spotify to force them to put their new star (XXX) back on playlists, but I can only assume Kendrick knows his name was being used.

This all just underscores the fact that, if we want to get the industry to take responsibility for financially supporting artists who abuse women, it has to happen at the labels. Streamers might try to exercise some moral autonomy, but labels ultimately call the shots.
