extremely late in recommending this, but I enjoyed playing Homesick by , and Heather Schmidt. What a nice study in diagetic puzzle design and good materials + lighting

I used to spend a lot of time fighting with websites that were rehosting my Flash stuff without permission, but this is the year where it’s going to rapidly go from ‘annoying’ to run Flash to ‘actually difficult’, so it’s definitely time to let the archivists to do their work!

(and yeah a lot of these games don’t make a ton of sense outside of the cultural, technical and psychological context of a browser window, but that’s not really the point.)

A bit late to the party on this, but BlueMaxima’s Flashpoint is really incredible - basically one modest Windows download and you can play 38,000 flash games, completely searchable, automatic and free. So much culture saved from the jaws of death

Just in case you didn't know, there is a version of FlashPlayer that is standalone. It's how I play all those ancient gems!

Finally got around to playing Red Dead Redemption 2 and it’s not bad! Reminds me of Sid Meier’s famous maxim: “A game is a series of tasks to complete.”

Since I’m in the archiving mood - I posted a Windows build of the secret twin-analog version of Get On Top from Sportsfriends. (Thanks for the prod)

GIRP fans (I know there’s a couple of you) - Adobe and Google have nearly completed their slow murder of Flash games, and there’s still no viable way of emulating them or compiling them to HTML5. So, I put a free Windows binary of GIRP on my website - link’s on the original page.

this game nicely captures the feeling of trying to make choices that unsatisfyingly reconcile multiple competing interests or ideals - to succeed you have to give up on perfection in all areas. It could just as easily be titled ‘dilemmageraet’
