I don't get that either. I didn't see any action being taken by the store owners, they should have called the cops. What happened after the fact? Have there been arrests? If arrested, find out why they felt compelled to do that.

There are zero consequences.

What the underlying cause you figure? This is a symptom. Where is the money going to come from for dealing with every incident like that? What is the cost of prosecuting and jailing petty crime like this? How is it going to get paid for?

Well, that's the issue isn't it?. We can complain but we are short on solutions to the problems. For those of us that want to make this our home, we want practical solutions rather than just rants. We are all aware of the problems here. What do we do about it

For people that don't live here or are just transients out to exploit the city for personal gain, can stay out of the conversation unless you have got some practical solutions that are cost effective and understand how the SF budget works.

There needs to be alignment. It’s a disaster. I rant. But that’s all the local leaders do. It’s a blame game. The corruption needs to be drained. Alignment. Chesa is not working with anyone. His promise, to me in a live interview. First step mental health and treatment options

How do you know he is not working with anyone? First steps seems to make sense to me as housing and homelessness is our #1 problem. Everything else is lower down the priority list IMO.

How have hotels helped the homeless population?

Yes, but it hasn't eliminated the problem because we are way short on housing unfortunately. Hotels are not the most cost effective, but given the emergency, that's what we have. If you have a better idea, I am listening..... These problems aren't easy to solve :-(

I agree these are gigantic problems that need conversations explanations and logic. I don’t think harm reduction is the only way. It’s the only truly practiced city drug effort. There are billboards and banners for narcan. Push a different message. Maybe that would be a start.

I’m certain from my on the ground Soma view it’s all drugs. Addiction is the biggest of all those challenges. It’s all really buffoonery until drugs and mental health are truly addressed. First step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. Legit truth.

I agree. The people who are mentally ill and addicted can only admit it if they are clean long enough. There is a reason they are addicted. Economic and mental conditions + the drug "pushers" like the Pharma, Drs., and pharmacies who distributed fentanyl. Who is going after them?
