    Walk/sit among trees & plants. I wrote a book about this because it’s saved me from serious mental illness several times. Plant oils again, but more than that: seeing green, wildlife encounters, sunshine on your face, gentle exercise: a very potent cocktail that can lift mood.

    Hang out food for the birds. Research from shows that mental health is improved by seeing birds through a window. Watching their antics for just 5 mins is so uplifting & you’ll be helping your local blackbirds,bluetits or sparrows to survive. Bluetit, by youngest

    Do something creative. I’ve tested this & just 5-10 minutes is enough to shift your brain into a state called ‘flow’, when you’re distracted from everyday worries & stress hormone levels can drop. Doodle, arrange some flowers, stitch, bake...any of these can induce welcome calm

    I’m learning that I can alter my brain chemistry and the tone of my thoughts with surprisingly small, simple things: reassuring routines that can shift the flavour of my day, like a recipe. I’m collecting them like fossils or feathers. They really work & I’ll share some here:

    YES!! I was told this recently & then had to stop myself from going Into meltdown about the possibility of surgery down the line & interference with my ‘walking for therapy & pain relief’, we imagine the worst!! 👎

    It’s becoming clear that many people feel that coming off/reducing their opioid meds is equivalent to saying they are better in the eyes of DWP! Pain is invisible & opioids validate that pain! Change is needed!
