As a lifelong democrat, I wholeheartedly agree. I don't want gerrymandered districts, either red or blue. I want fair elections and candidates that have to compromise. Full stop.

Write an open source algorithm to compute the districts - then get both sides to agree on changes until it's deemed fair. Then simply hand over the problem to the computer and abide by the results.
