But pretty silly for an unelected house to suggest that Parliament should ignore a referendum result!!! Some Remainers are still completely out of touch with the majority of the British people. @BrexitCentralhttps://twitter.com/juliatanner/status/985272806614151170 …

The European Union Referendum Act 2015 was the law that allowed the referendum to take place. The House of Lords Constitution Committee said “because of the sovereignty of Parliament, referendums cannot be legally binding in the UK, and are therefore advisory”.

Bernard, the larger minority of those who voted cannot be said to be the majority of the people. Have you looked at the law on strike ballots recently?

Bernard meant "my slightly larger minority from a questionable and corrupted ballot is everyone who is important." That is a great way to divide the country.

Of course MPs have a vested interest in regarding the largest single group as a majority.

And there it is. Rather than working for the good of the country, they work to please their own power base at the expense of everyone else. The system stinks, really

And presently we are seeing what happens - party interest taking precedence.

That has been the story since Cameron decided to call the Referendum - a tiny minority of far right Imperial nostalgists and their Press backers holding the Tory party to ransom. It's so sad.

Don’t let anyone tell you that the fight for Britain’s future is over or isn’t worth having - scream at me all you want but this isn’t about the referendum, this is about what happens next and whether the best we can get for Britain. Furthermore, the people were explicitly told that it was their decision and that the government would enact what the people determined should be done (by way of answering the referendum question).
