The decision of the people to throw Westminster the challenge of leaving the EU has exposed the way in which our political class has become infantilised. - http://inews.co.uk https://inews.co.uk/opinion/columnists/brexit-governing-technocrats/ …

Our political system needs complete reform. How can it be right that you represent a constituency that you can’t lose in a vote. It doesn’t make you accountable. That can’t be a healthy democracy! Ultimately that’s the problem. People don’t feel represented hence protest votes.

I’d double the salary, attract far brighter people, who wish to effect change. Not these thickos. Then give them 2 terms max. No full time, career politicians. No comfort zone.

His “lot” gave us the chance to vote that many of us have waited years for. The ERG don’t get 17.4M votes, the people did that. The referendum merely demonstrated how far politicians views had strayed from a very major section of the electorate. This is what democracy looks like.

People may have changed their mind since 2016 - yet democracy seems to have been stopped. Perhaps because Leavers won and fear losing that mandate so won't check it's still the voters preference. True democracy means allowing people to change their mind. Unless you're a Brexiteer
