Congratulations on finding the Patrick Minford of customs “specialists”. The law of large numbers pretty much guaranteed there would be one...

Give it a rest Bernard. An FTA can't deliver an "invisible Irish border" any more than FTAs deliver invisible borders anywhere else in the world.
-
There's an invisible Irish border now, always has been and yes an FTA can expand on it thereby making it as frictionless as needs be.
-
Zero understanding of either history or the issues from people who want full control of our borders but don't want to control our only land border and don't think that the EU should be allowed to control its borders. Spot the border below. Doh!!!!!!!pic.twitter.com/XQ3ER8bp8O
-
You're allowing history to cloud your thinking, the GFA has no bearing on a border, EU only ones mandated to erect hard border. No border in the world is completely 'hands off' but there is an e-border between NI-RoI now and has been for decades. CTA just about covers the rest.
-
My thinking is not clouded. Your reasoning is desperate. You said there'd never been a hard border; you were plain wrong. Blaming the EU is despicable. How is EU to exert customs controls and stop substandard goods getting in across the border? You lot have contempt for GFA.
-
Now I've stopped laughing at you, please point out where I said there'd never been a hard border? This is YOUR desperation. EU is looking at identical technology for e-borders, has been for years. The GFA is the GFA it does not hinder progress.
-
Meanwhile, while you lot fantasize that blockchain can solve the problem YOU have created, the EU is demanding data from the UK on how we'll administer the backstop, and in the island of Ireland itself...https://www.express.co.uk/news/politics/976386/brexit-news-ireland-irish-border-northern-ireland-lord-ashcroft-polls …
-
All the data has been provided now and whilst blockchain has only been fantasised by hard of thinkers, it's not a bad idea but if used it will only be part of solution. There will be no backstop that involves 'the island of Ireland'

That article isn’t saying what you think it’s saying. Maessen is telling us No Deal would be a disaster. To get a smooth border he says we need to stay in the EU VAT area and keep our regulations fully aligned. And then we try to eliminate tariffs to smooth that out.

You are a liar Bernard. A FTA can't deliver an "invisible Irish border" any more than FTAs deliver invisible borders anywhere else in the world. Stop with your vacuous nonsense and tweets devoid of any intelligence.

99.9% of British businesses & industries agree that an FTA deal post-Brexit will make us worse off. Maybe you know better?
-
99.9%? You make it up as you go along
-
It's probably higher. Only the Whetherspoon arsehole, the carpet cleaner salesman and JCB support Brexit. The smart businesses, like Rees Mogg's, Redwood's & Ashcroft's are moving out of the UK.
-
Point proven. No further questions your honour.
